About WHOP Foundation

WHOP Foundation stands for Women’s Hope Opportunity and Progress Foundation. We are a women-led non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of vulnerable communities through humanitarian and sustainable development initiatives focused on protection, GBV, WASH, education, FSL, CVA, nutrition, peacebuilding, and the empowerment of women, girls, children, and marginalized groups — thriving beyond survival.

Our Story

Women's Hope Opportunity and Progress Foundation (WHOP Foundation) is a registered non-profit organization with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), holding Certificate of Incorporation No. 9449742 (2026), in accordance with Nigerian law. Our registered office is located at House No. 38, Moduganari Bye Pass, Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria.

Founded in 2020 in response to the humanitarian crisis in North-East Nigeria, WHOP Foundation began as a community-based initiative in Tashan Alade. It has since evolved into a nationally recognized non-governmental organization, formally incorporated in March 2026.

Over the years, the organization has grown steadily through collaboration with partner and sister organizations, delivering both humanitarian and development interventions. We currently maintain a skilled workforce supported by a network of field staff, researchers, and data collectors operating across three Local Government Areas: Hawul, Biu, and Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC).

Our work focuses on supporting vulnerable populations affected by conflict, displacement, and socio-economic challenges. We facilitate access to essential services in healthcare, education, nutrition, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). In addition, we implement programs in Gender-Based Violence (GBV) protection, livelihoods, and peacebuilding.

WHOP Foundation adopts an integrated, community-based approach that ensures interventions are inclusive, responsive, and sustainable. Our operational model emphasizes continuous learning, staff capacity building, and adherence to rigorous quality assurance standards to enhance performance and accountability to both beneficiaries and donors.

As an agile and partnership-driven organization, we actively collaborate with civil society networks and relevant government institutions. We are affiliated with key platforms such as the Network of Civil Society Organizations in Borno State, the Nigeria Network of NGOs, and the Ministry of Women Affairs. We are also in the process of formalizing registrations with the Borno State Ministry of Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Affairs, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and other sectoral ministries.

Guided by the core humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence, WHOP Foundation remains committed to accountability and ethical service delivery. As a youth-led organization, we align our work with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus framework.

We believe that every individual—especially women, children, and persons with disabilities—deserves dignity, resilience, and the opportunity to build a better future. Through strong partnerships and community engagement, we strive to empower communities to move beyond survival toward sustainable development.
